During the third quarter of 2024, the top sandbox-like games on iOS in the United States showcased varied performance patterns in terms of downloads, revenue, and active user engagement. Here's a closer look at how each app fared, based on data from Sensor Tower.

Roblox maintained a strong presence with weekly revenue fluctuating around $11M to $12M early in the quarter, peaking at $12.6M by the end of July. However, by September, revenue dipped to approximately $9.8M. Downloads started at over 430K in early July and saw a slight decrease, settling around 399K by the end of September. Active users showed a similar trend, starting from 16M and decreasing to nearly 14.2M.

Minecraft: Play with Friends experienced a decline in both revenue and downloads. Weekly revenue began at $922K and fell to about $654K by the end of the quarter. Downloads dropped significantly from approximately 162K to just over 10K. Active users also saw a downward trend, starting at 7.1M and decreasing to 5.1M.

For IMVU: Fun 3D Avatar Chat Game, revenue hovered around $172K at the start of July, gradually declining to about $138K by September's end. Downloads followed a similar pattern, starting at 25.7K and decreasing to 21.1K. Active users showed a slight decline from 297K to 263K.

One State RP: Grand city crime showed a relatively stable revenue pattern, starting at $73K and ending at approximately $93K. Downloads, however, declined from 25.8K to 14.9K throughout the quarter. Active users increased slightly, moving from 186K to 223K by the end of September.

ZEPETO: Avatar, Connect & Live started the quarter with a revenue of $98K, which saw a gradual decline to around $74K. Downloads began at 26.4K and decreased to 16.4K. The active user base saw a minor decrease, starting from 156K and ending at 143K.
